The short version
Some links on this Site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.
That's it. That's the disclosure.
The longer version (required by the FTC)
In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255: "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising," we are disclosing the following:
Amazon Associates Program
Gertie Press is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click a link on our Site that leads to Amazon and you complete a purchase, Amazon may pay us a small commission. This commission is paid by Amazon out of their share of the sale — it does not increase the price you pay.
Links to our own book
Links to Gertie's Guide to Not Eating Linoleum on Amazon are also affiliate links. Because Gertie Press publishes the book, we earn a royalty when you buy a copy, and we may also earn a small Amazon Associates commission on the same purchase. Neither affects the price you pay.
Bulk orders placed directly through our bulk orders page are sold by Gertie Press and do not involve Amazon or any affiliate commission.
Other affiliate programs
We may also participate in other affiliate programs from time to time. These could include programs run by other retailers, manufacturers, or service providers we believe offer products relevant to our audience. We will disclose these the same way: any link that earns us a commission is an affiliate link.
How we choose what to recommend
We recommend products that:
- Are commonly suggested for fall prevention and senior safety by physical therapists and occupational therapists
- Have generally positive reviews and a reasonable track record
- Are available from reputable retailers
We do not accept payment to recommend a specific brand or product. If we recommend a product, it's because we genuinely think it could be useful for someone — not because someone paid us to say so.
That said, please remember our Medical Disclaimer: we are not making medical recommendations. Always consult your healthcare provider about whether a specific product or device is right for you.
How affiliate links are marked
We try to clearly mark affiliate links wherever they appear. You'll see notes like:
- "Amazon affiliate link. We may earn a commission from qualifying purchases."
- "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases" (in the footer of every page)
- "(affiliate link)" next to specific links where space allows
If you're not sure whether a link is an affiliate link, you can ask us at hello@gertiegetsupright.com.
Your choice, no pressure
You are never obligated to use our affiliate links. You can:
- Search for any product directly on the retailer's site
- Buy from a different retailer entirely
- Borrow, find used, or skip the product altogether
If you do use our links, thank you — it genuinely helps support the work we do, including keeping the printables free.
